Songs of the Week 2024

I’m a big pop music fan. I build my own playlists, burning them to CDs back in the day before switching to digital playlists several years ago. Beginning in 2006 I started designating my favorite song for each week as my  ‘Song of the Week’.  My first official SOW was ’Ticket Outta Loserville’ by Son of Dork for the week ending Jan 7. 2024 wraps up my 18th year of SOWs. Some hold up quite well – others make me wonder what I was thinking. With New Year’s right around the corner, now seems like a good time for a look at my  Songs of the Week for 2024.
No act ran away with this year’s SOW crown, with 9 (nine!) acts finishing the year tied with two SOW’s each. They are: Daphne Guinness, Home Counties, Jake Bugg, Nemo, Paul Heaton, Pet Shop Boys, and Welly. Finland’s Käärijä’s two were joint projects with Joost and Erika Vikman. Joost’s two were a solo number and a joint project with Käärijä.
