Books of the Week - 10/24/18

1. Infinity Warps: Arach-Knight #1 (Marvel) ★★★★★
Writer: Dennis Hopeless / Art: Ale Garza & Victor Olazaba / Colors: Ruth Redmond
Wonderful art by Ale Garza and a cool story by Dennis Hopeless make this the best of the Warps so far.

2. Infinity Warps: Solider Supreme #2 (Marvel) ★★★★★
Writer: Gerry Duggan / Art: Adam Kubert / Colors: Matthew Wilson
Beautiful art by Adam Kubert and a strong narrative from Gerry Duggan that neatly ties into the main IW storyline. Nice follow up to issue #1.

3. Amazing Spider-Man #6 & #7 (Marvel) ★★★★★ (6) ★★★★ (7)
Writer: Nick Spencer / Art: Humberto Ramos & Victor Olazaba / Colors: Edgar Delgado
Although this week’s #8 failed to hit, the two previous issues were some of the most fun I’ve had reading a Marvel comic in quite some time. Nick Spencer & fave Humberto Ramos almost make me forget about issue 5. Glad I was able to catch up.

4. The Long Con #1 thru #4 (ONI Press) ★★★★ (All)
Writer: Dylan Meconis & Ben Coleman / Art: EA Denich / Colors: M. Victoria Robado
Another book I caught up with this week. This series hilariously parodies Con culture and fandom. Dylan Meconis, Ben Coleman & EA Denich bring a fresh take to a well trodden subject.

5. Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Comic #2 (Dark Horse) ★★★★
Writer: Harold Buchholz, Joel Hodgson, Matt McGinnis, Seth Robinson, Sharyl Volpe & Mary Robinson / Art: Todd Nauck & Jack Pollock / Colors: Wes Dzioba & Jack Pollock
I admit that I hated the first issue of this series. Issue 2 feels like a totally different book. A complete turnaround. In fact, it’s so good I may have to revisit issue 1.

6. Teen Titans #23 (DC) ★★★★
Writer: Adam Glass / Art: Bernard Chang & Scott Hanna / Colors: Hi-Fi
I admit, I bought this book for the cover. I found it quite enjoyable though. Nice little mystery and a big ending. Cool dialog too.
